So at ‘Charity Towers’ we love attending industry events to research new ways of working, legislation changes and advances in technology that can help our clients boost business and transform lives.

At the Charity Comms seminar, there were some fantastic guest speakers, who kindly shared their experiences and it was inspiring to discover the benefits and challenges, of embracing the latest digital advances available.

I came away with lots of handy hints and tips to share, and not all come at a cost! Take Workplace by Facebook for example! This communication platform for ‘office’ or commercial use, is a powerful way to connect everyone in your company and turn ideas into action AND it’s FREE for charities!

Many growing charities are struggling with internal communications, keeping volunteers updated and sharing best practice across branches.  Whilst there are many Apps and tools that can help solve these problems, the intuitive, well loved, user experience of Facebook means that Workplace is incredibly easy to implement, with people up and running quickly.  By creating specialist groups on the platform you can keep everyone  ‘in the loop’ and tag people, share photos and upload documents within seconds to both increase productivity and engagement.

The possibilities are endless! Directors can share annual reports, entertainment managers can share ideas on topical or seasonal activities, facilities mangers can re-cycle equipment across branches, marketing teams can exchange ideas to share on Twitter – all in a safe and secure space.

With the ability to access the App from your mobile phone, people can receive updates and alerts when they are working in the field, meaning key corporate messages can get to the right people at the right time!

Work Place by Facebook is well worth checking out. It could change the way your charity works for good!
